
Catherine is a beautiful mother of three sons, ages seventeen, thirteen and eighteen months. Fabrice, her youngest son, is the result of a rape that occured by a mentally ill man. Catherine's husband was killed in 1995 during the civil war in the Northern Province of Rwanda. Since the age of twelve Catherine has suffered from Lymphedema, commonly know as Elephantitis. It has manifested in her feet, making it extreamly difficult to wear shoes. In 2005, she discovered she was HIV+ when her church encouraged her to go for voluntary testing. Catherine praises God for her new home and is greatful to be working full-time at the bakery. Little Fabrice joins her everyday and is loved by all the widows.
