Adera is HIV+ and cares for two of her seven children:sons, ages thirteen and twenty-one, plus three of her grandchildren. Adera's life has been tragic. When Adera was just five years old, her mother died, leaving her to care for her two-month old sister. Later, her baby sister died from malnutrition in Adera's young arms. Then began the sexual abuse by her stepfather and stepbrother. At the age of sixteen she married. Three of her daughters died as infants. Upon finding out she was HIV+, her husband left and is presumed dead. Her twenty-one year old son is also HIV+. Adera sings and praises God for answering her prayers and says this is the first time in her life she has been truly happy.
